I want to get an exhaust for my 2K1 HX. However, I want a bolt on, no weld. Can I buy a EX exhaust for the car? No company that I have found offers an exhaust for the HX. Thank you.

any exhaust found for a 2001+ Civic (regardless of EX, DX, or LX) will fit our
cars

however, it is the cat and the downpipe the presents problem

anyways....any exhaust system will be a direct bolt on with no welding
necessary unless it is a muffler or a universal exhaust system

i suggest the Greddy Evolution Full-Catback
or the Skunk 2 Exhaust System

yeah you have to go with a new header as well you will also see the emergence of a few check engine and maintenence required lights due to the lack of pre cat on the ex setup

To simplify what vinh and civichxtreme just said; The cat-back section of the exhaust on the HX/LX/DX/EX is identical. The difference comes in with the headers and cat. The EX differs from the HX/LX/DX models in that it has a shorter header section and a longer downpipe/cat section.

Okay, I am confused. I have an HX, and I have been told over and over again that the HX setup is different then all the others and that there is no bolt on available. Are you guys saying that I can buy any catback exhaust system and it will fit bolt on with no welding?

If you want to put an EX catback onto an HX, you need the EX header and downpipe as well. That will all bolt on, and then your exhaust will fit with no welding, however you may throw a check engine light.

Mystic you are quite mistaken. The cat-back exhaust for the 7thgen is identical for all models. No welds. BigD, I put an APEX'i N1 on my HX and it fit with absolutely no problems.

okay, just to make sure I got this right, I can put the catback exhaust system for an EX on my HX just by bolt on, correct?

Yes. The confusion lies in the fact that the EX has a different header/cat setup but it meets up with the catback in exactly the same spot.
If you are going to do the install yourself I would suggest investing in some WD-40 and a breaker bar to get the stock exhaust off. It can be a real pain in the you know what.

ok I have an LX.....i wanted to get headers, but the only ones are for EX.....so if I get an EX header and hi-flow cat/downpipe.....it will go on right? the check engine light though....will it stay off if i reset it or is the header cat combo hurting the LX engine?

Yes, it will bolt right up. And no it wont hurt the engine, its just the computer seeing something outta the ordinary.

It will come back on unless you purchase an 02 Simulator. The check engine light comes on because the 02 sensor mounted just aft of the cat senses too much air pollution coming out of the cat.
