I have an 04 LX coupe which i bought new in sept 04

ive had a couple issues:

- dome light buzz/whine - fixed
- rattle under glove box - semi-fixed
- knocking/ratle coming from rear area - strut has been ordered
- passenger and drivers side door panels rattle - passenger side fixed
- other rattles/creeks/squeeksf from various areas in the car - too many to fix?
- trunk squeeks when i open it - semi-fixed
- pocket underneath stereo squeeks when i open it - no fix
- knocking noise when i turn - fixed

theres more, i just cant think of anything........and the dealer usually never gives me paper work when i pick the car up.......which is strange

ive had my car at the dealer at least once a month since ive got it, i only have 10,000kms on the car now.......

i cant stand rattles.........my gf's hyundai accent doesnt rattle, i thought hondas were supposed to be better......!

yeah rattles are pretty bad. especially in winter when it's cold out they seem to get worse.

the only rattles I had were from the rear speaker deck around the 3rd brake light, but honda just put a peice of rubber foam around it (you cant see it) and its all set...also my center console squeaks real bad when i open it....but as for the doors creeking---> that happens to me only when its real cold

i bought my 04, in nov of 03. I have around 32k on it and it runs fine. The only thing i dont like about it, is the fact my rear seat sometimes sqeeks during highway driving. If i'm playing the radio i cant hear it. Then again we dont have the same kind of extreme weather as canada in california.

1) High idles early in the morning around 1400 rpms ... when its not cold out.
2) The plastic rubber coming off of my door.. kinda fixed it
3) Rattles lol
4) Tranny can feel a little " cheap" at times

got one rattle fixed today. and yes tranny does feel cheap^^^. BTW i forgot to mention i did get my driver door lock cable replaced. although this was my fault due to installer who put in my speakers (i had to go through two installers because the first was an idiot who said my components wouldn't fit) and me ****ing around adjusting the speakers.

If you think the tranny feels cheap, drive a mazda 3...

I think the civic 5-sp is a lot tighter and feel's better than most in its class, however, the cluch is toooo easy to push in...

Nuespeed short shift might help you, I reckon we only had the civic a few months before we took it out of the RSX-S and put it in the civic...

I drove my 04 again on the highway today. This time i didn't have the music on. The creeking noise in the rear disappeared by itself. Maybe i got lucky, because i'm not having any problems with my 04. My only complaint would be a little be more power for the highway.

check your engine compartment, maybe there is some leaking coolant or something, that actually has a sweet smel, but check under the hood when the car is cool, and again when it's hot.

ive had my 04 vic since march and ive got about 2 thousand miles on it, i try not to drive it in the rain, never driven it in snow. you have to learn how to treat your vic right, and it will surely pay off. I have not had 1 problem with my car.

i have a auto too lol. Only issue i had with the tranny is that one time the gear slip. Kinda like it had difficulty shifting from first to second gear. Only happened to me once, so i didn't really think too much of it. But after driving a toyota and a honda, i have to admit the honda auto tranny kinda sux when compared to the sooner shifting toyota auto tranny.

Rookie tuner wondering where all the aftermarket parts for '04 Civics are...

So yeah, that's me. I'm 21, first time Civic owner(hell yeah!!). Just got my first um, semi-career type job(new/used car salesman, sold one on my first day!!).

Wanting to get into tuning/customs/legal drag racing. Just so I don't come off as a total turd, I have prior experience in custom/tuning, just hot rods though. Haha. I also drag raced in the Junior NHRA. That's right, kids. Nothing to be too proud of.

Just wondering, what kinda crowd we got here. You guys(girls?) seem pretty knowledgeable, hopefully you're not too elitist.
Thanks for any info you can give me.

Basically I haven't found any body parts other than spoilers and rims, intakes are pretty universal as far as my experience tells me. Then again I'm used to ordering straight from Year One(hot rod parts wholesaler/retailer). My search has been limited to Ads/websites in Super Street and keyword searches in Search Engines. No luck as of yet. Any ideas? Somebody point me in the right direction!

Rear windshield

I bought my civic in march 04 and the only problem i've had is there always seems to be residue on my back windshield. It is only on the lower part around my brake light but no matter how many times i clean it, it comes back. I called the dealership but its hard for me to get my car there cuz im at school right now. just wondering if anyone else ran into this as well.

cosmetically there's not much out yet except for a few body kits. engine stuff is the same. quite a few turbo kits out now. if you wanna make the car go fast turbo or swap a k20 in there.

best way to learn about civics and honda's in general is just to search through the various forum topics. The sites been around for awhile and most of the noob questions have been answered many times. I can tell you learned so much from this site. I was a complete car nooob until i got my 04 civic and started surfing the forums here. Most people here are helpful some are asses, but its like that in the real world too.

Like the others have said there isn't much we can do to our cars other then looks and suspension. If your going to mod your car, i would suggest just going for looks or suspension. The handling from our cars is better then your average econobox.

04 Civic VP 5spd. Purchased Feb 10, 2004, with 5 miles on the odometer. Currently at 22700 miles.

So far, only 1 big problem, that was when a stick went up into my right CV boot and put a fat hole in it. Went to dealer, they ordered the part, it came in 3 days later, they put it all back together. But the retaining clip on the drive axle was warped, so literally 3 blocks from the dealership, I called them because my car wasn't going anywhere, and made a loud thumping when the drive axle popped out of the tranny. They towed it back, I kept the 04 LX auto loaner for another 6 days...thats how long it took them to get the new retainer clip, which then didn't fit on the axle, because it was ground down too far when it was sitting in the tranny. So then it took another 5 days for Honda to 'overnight' them the needed part, then I finally got my car back. Other than that, no problems. They also paid for all gas in the loaner and filled up my tank.

New, never-before-seen/heard/felt problems with my '04 Civic!! Suck...

I'm hoping it's this crappy Indiana weather, you know... where it's 50 and sunny some days and then snowing and colder than a .... you get the idea...

So now sporadically my car likes to sputter when it starts, taking about 5-7 seconds to actually generate enough of a spark to turn the engine over fast enough to start it up. Again, here's to hoping it's the weather and not some new-fangled problem before I get to play with it at all.

i find i do have that problem with shitty gas. could be from condensation in your gas tank too. try filling up at half a tank for a few fills.

Speaking of gas, what octane do you use? Of course they tell you when you buy a new car what kind of gas to put in, for me it's 87 Octane Regular Unleaded, but I've wondered if it would hurt to put the higher octane shee-ot in there to spice things up a bit. Hit back. And thanks, Kornsined.

use 87 octane only. anything else higher is useless and a waste a money. it actually harms the engine, search the forums and see. for turbo it's alright.
