Take the trim piece with the gas pulley off and you should be able to do it manually inside the car.

All it is is a pulley system.

well cable system like the brakes on a bicycle...but I forgot to add that the parts to fix that level will run a little over 20 bucks. I had the trunk one go bad on me..

Mystic3030 has a spectacular aura aboutMystic3030 has a spectacular aura about
Moving to Vehicle Issues.

Also, I think if you are only 64 KM over warranty they will still fix it...if they dont thats damn shitty of them.

I'd dig around in the trunk and see if there isn't a fuel door release somewhere in there... I'd look through my owners manual, but lost it a while ago...

Other than that, take it to honda, if they should fix it, refusing warranty issues at 64km over warranty is just shitty (as Mystic pointed out above).

next time jam a plastic card such as a credit card and see if you can open the door. It seems like its a common problem for some people having their Gas door cable go loose. I had a problem with the trunk lever, but not the Gas door lever.

That happened to me too. The cable housing came loose from where the lever attaches. A two dollar bottle of super glue and I was up and running. You need to remove that plastic trim peace and superglue th eblack cable housing onto the clear plastic piece onthe lever mount.

all you have to do to open the gas door is:
1. open your trunk
2. pull down the carpet on the drivers side behind the gas door.
3. find the cables that go to the door and give them a slight pull, door should open.

then you can take the time to reattach it to the lever. I have fixed this on my neighbor's 2003 Accord and my other neighbors 03 civic.

A few Problems i noticed with the 01' Civic Sedan..First off, the Gas release Rusted and the line snapped...went to Honda within the warrenty, and they kept changing it, i had to go back to Honda 3 more times since the first time it snapped...Second off, the trunk would open because of something loose with the trunk, trunk would fly open after driving on bumps on the road...i know this isnt a problem, but i think its rediculious...2001 Civic Automatic...has a tach...the 2001 Civic Manual..has no tach...who was smoking what when they decided to put a tach in a automatic and not in the manual version..

I have the same problem in this article. Does anyone know where a picture that shows how the mechanism works is? an/or the easiest way to get the running board plastic thing off easily?
