Angry Broken Slave Cylinder...WTF?

I was pulling into a parking lot tonight... driving slow and everything. I push in the clutch to shift down to 1st, and it was amazing. My clutch went in so easy lol. Funny thing is, it never came back out. It was pretty dark and no lights around, so hard to see if anything was leaking. I got out my trusty LED light from Brookstone, and noticed that the clutch fluid was low. I actually keep brake fluid in my car and stuff just incase (ya never know). Filled it, even though I knew something else had to be wrong. Then I shined the light around the engine compartment only to come across the clutch slave cylinder. It cracked right off the transmission housing. Fluid was leaking all out under my car. There is one bolt totally missing, i have no clue where the hell it went, or why it would have gone. And there is a bolt still in there holding part of the broken peice in. So now I have to go down to the parking lot tomorrow and replace it... hoping that Honda has the part in stock. Not to mention that at the same time, the spring came loose of the clutch pedal and I can't find it. Nobody has touched the slave cylinder at all, so I don't understand it. It sucks. The best I can think of is that the part was fatigued to begin with, or the bolt was over-torqued from the factory. Has this happened to anybody else?

Ronin is an unknown quantity at this point
I've never heard of anybody else here having that particular problem.

Although I have heard of other manual cars having their clutch pedal fall all the way to the floor due to cylinder leaks.

i replaced the slave cylinder in the parking lot this morning, and I bled it. It was raining and it sucked. But I still get no clutch pressure, and there isn't a single leak anywhere. So I had it towed to the shop. They said that sometimes the impact of the slave cylinder snapping out of place causes a big load on the Master Cylinder so it also might have to be replaced. So that's what they are going to look into next. They said all of this isn't uncommon though.

yeah this happened to my brother. he was on the nj turnpike put the car in neutral and decided to rev the motor needless to say when he pushed the clutch back in, it didnt come back up he did need a new slave cylinder, he had it towed and i had to drive his car home. i had to keep topping off at red lights and i was shifting the car w/o clutch. not much fun. the only thing i can think that went wrong with his car is that when he put headers, mysteriously one of the bracket bolts was missing. was your bracket still connected but cracked down the middle to??

OMG.... it is a mystery!!!!! One of my bolts from the slave cylinder bracket was completely missing too. And it was 3 days after I removed my turbo manifold. So the pressure of the pushrod on the fork put all that load on the one bolt that was still in place, and snapped the bracket right in half. My bracket wasn't connected though. The metal around the bolt was torn off and the slave cylinder was just hanging on from the clutch line. It turn... my master cylinder broke too. Total cost of the tow and fix was $250.
