Power Windows

I have my 2k1 coupe at the dealer today - something is "squeaking" (best way to describe the sound) when the passenger door shuts - I isolated it to something in the power window assembly because it doesn't "squeak" with the window halfway down. The passenger window also doesn't sound as smooth closing as the drivers side does - almost like it's grinding a bit.

Anyone have to have their power windows adjusted or experience issues with them?

aetobatus is an unknown quantity at this point
Go to autozone and get a can of silicone spray and spray it into the vertical rail. Just make sure you clean the rail with a wet towel before applying the silicone. It should cure the squeaking sound.

update - the dealer calls me Thursday saying the tech can't find anything - so I go down yesterday on my lunch hour and I literally had to point out the noise - "oh THAT noise" he says, then proceeds to tell me that they can't look at it until Monday or Tuesday due to a full service schedule.

So I either take it home and bring it back or leave it - I decided to leave it.

What a pain in the *** for such a minor issue

He did comment that he wasn't thrilled about Honda's design choices for the 01 - which tells me I might not be the only one with this kind of an issue.

^^^ You aren't. I consider myself LUCKY. I have found and fixed the few squeaks and rattles I have had myself. I have had Hondas since 77 with the original Accord. None of them ever had these kind of problems. Overall, my Civic runs great, but it could do without the "annoyances" the 7th gen seems plauged with.

i had a noisy drivers side window. the dealer claimed that the running track was dirty and that silicone spray would fix it. all it did was grease up the entire window. the problem persisted. at the end the dealer replaced the motor because i pressured them to do it. problem is fixed.

there have been lots and lots of threads on the window problem...silicone spray will not help. it's honda's crappy window motors...

update #2 - they say it's either the aftermarket boston acoustic speaker or the crossover rubbing against the door panel (does this make ANY sense?) - supposedly with the panel off it doesn't make any noise. I told him it had been making that noise since I bought it in July - but to push it further I have to uninstall the speaker and crossover to prove it.

what a waste of *&%&*^ time ! AND of course time spent isn't under warranty.
