Differences in bumpers and colors between years (01-03)

I need to replace my gf's front bumper on her black '03 ex coupe. Could I use one off the '01 or '02's in NHBP? I'm not sure if her black is NHBP and if the bumper will fit with no problems and use all the same lights/hardware and mounting points.

Please let me know if you can confirm yay or nay.

yea im almost positive the bumpers are completely the same so you could take an '01 or '02, but id lean towards an '02 just to be positive. i think the only new design bumpers are this year with the new front end design.

as far as the paint colors, i dont know if honda re-engineered the shades of that black color. i have an '02 black sedan and my friend has a black '03 coupe and as far as i can tell, theres no visible difference in the shade of paint.

You could but there is no garentee that the colors will match... even the same color from the same year has differences, add in fading from the sun and you could end up with parts that dont match, even though they are the same color....

You probably wont have a problem with black, but if it were silver or red.... eh who konws.

I believe this will work. I would look for a '02 civic bumper. Less fade and closer to a match. To my knowledge, honda kept the same paint code for the 01+ if the color has been continued through the years. To check, you could find a 01 or 02 civic black and look in the door jam to find the paint code. Then match it tto your GF's civic. If its the same, the paint code has remaind the same. Or just ask honda at the dealer.

"even the same color from the same year has differences, add in fading from the sun and you could end up with parts that dont match" This is really true, even with black. I have the same black color too, but you need to remember its a pearl black paint. I had to put a new grill on my car so i bought a used one and it is more faded then the rest of my car and doesnt have the same shine. I also had to have my rear bumper re-painted because of small accident and even though they did a great job, in certain light you can tell it doesnt match just right.
