A bent condensor = big prollem?
So my girlfriend decided to bump a BMW in the back with her civic, and got her front bumper damaged, I can replace that just fine, but a repair place said her condensor was bent. We've been driving the car a good 100 miles since the accident with no problems, though granted we've not used the AC. Is a little bump int he condensor gonna equal big problems?
Try to use the AC. Obviously you need to warm the car up first in the middle of winter. But uhhh...mine got bent but dind't leak and it quit workin'. So NO it won't cause big problems unless you consider not having AC a big problem. I do....and I need a condenser. Again if it doesn't leak, it SHOULDN'T be a problem. But if the main line is blocked somehow then it could be a problem. It's pretty sturdy metal though so it shouldn't bend that much. But uhmm...yeah. Mine wasn't bent very much and didn't leak...but it didn't work. Nobody could tell me why. But everyone was sure it was the condenser. Whatever :-p

It depends on what they mean by "bent", is it just a few cooling fins that were pushed in; the supply lines bent; the whole condenser is bent in the middle? If the A/C works okay then I wouldn't worry, but if it is bent enough, it might start leaking later on. Have a independant shop look at it and see what they say. It would be easier to replace when the reast of the car is getting fixed.
