First of all, why did you try the hon before turning on the car? Second, you should know that if you change something that effects an OEM part, the warrenty will be vioded, and third its not their (or hondas) fault that you killed your battery....

if you have a upgraded stereo system, but no upgraded chassis ground (chassis to negative of the battery) it could drain your battery to excessively,
your alternator may be bad, which is not uncommon on even newer cars
you have a capacitor for your stereo?
i don't know what your set up is, but i had a 1000watt stereo for 6 months, with a cap, and then sold it, i am still running on the oem battery, 43k miles on the battery and still ticks
check your battery connections, if they are dirty, you may want to clean it
don't blame the car for the mistake, it will happen the same way whatever car you have

honda is know for having ground loop problems...this will drain on your battery.
As far as them saying it is not covered under warrenty, well it is border line
of saying that your windshield wiper fluid is out. Honda told me that my car
was not factory anymore because I had a radar detector plugged in.
You need to speak to someone higher up and complain... http://www.bbb.com

It was knocked out by the stereo because the stereo is putting extra loading on your electrical system... and its draining your battery cuz the alternator is probably fighting to keep up with it.

quit complainig and blaming honda and just get a new battery. geez its not honda's fault...if it was their fault other people would be complaining about the same thing.
you probly wired your stereo wrong, or who ever put it in did it wrong...and read about what voids the warranty before you do anything to your car....unless you dont care about it. geez

actaully you should try another dealer.
my impression of Honda dealers was good, because once I just go there and tell them to change the speakers and power window motor just for the sake of it. My reason was:" they make little noise" and in fact there was not really any noise. They just changed them no question asked...
try to go to another dealer, if they still say the samething then I am afraid this time it was your fault.

I used to have a '91 740 Wagon, great car except for the lousy fuel economy and shop visits every 2 months, but it did have 350k on the original motor and tranny

Hey I have a idea, maybe the battery just went bad, its been known to happen all the time. Have the alternator and battery checked, and also have it checked for a battery draw. Any good shop should be able to do this for you for about $30.
Blaming Honda for a bad battery is like blaming the weather guy for the storm that rolled thru your town and knocked over your tree.

It's pretty easy to put blame on the battery. I had one go out on a 2000 frontier i used to own. Just didn't start after having just running about 20 minutes prior to that with no indication of failure. Same thing happened to my mom's 01 camry. Batteries can die with no prior indication and not because of having an upgraded audio system too. It also depends on where you live as to how long a battery will last. Toyota replaced the battery for the camry with no questions asked. Had i remembered there was a warranty on my batt with the frontier i would have had nissan take care of it, but i just got the best battery sears sold at the time.
And with all the crap that has gone wrong with my 02 civic ex coupe 5spd, i would blame the manufacturing process of the battery.

this is most likely hondas fault not yours. i also live in a clod winter climate and it has been -30 degrees celcius for the past week and i have a 12 inch sub and the amp is hooked up to the battery. i have never had this problem you should consult the site in one of the posts called warranties problems or something of that nature, it will clear up your problem. it states that "unless they can prove 100% that the problem is caused by the performance part or stereo you will be issued a new part or they will fix it." check it out it's worth your time make sure you print it and bring it to the ****s at honda.

hi, I also live in MTL...
So I have not driven my car for 3-4 days during the -30 degree celcius week...and the battery was dead. I had to jump start the car. Now the battery is pretty weak, if I let my key to II for 10 min the battery will run out.
So It is my fault? for not driving it, or can I go to Honda and tel them to replace one battery?
by the way, my car is at 39000Km
thanks
tell them you drove the car every day and its the ****in fault. you paid for the car and you should expect to work in our climate. if you dont blame honda blame the stereo install place. there is always a finger to blame and you should always try to put the blame on the company for making a faulty *** product!!!
