clutch?
clutch?
When I was driving today I started to notice something weird. When I’m at a stop and I put my car in 1st, and start to release the clutch, when I start to move my car feels kind of weird. It’s hard to explain but it’s almost feels like your tires are slipping. It’s hardly noticeable, so I don’t know if I’m paying to much attention to my car, or if something is wrong. I find it kind of hard to believe that it’s my clutch going, and I don't think it’s my transmission. Its a 2003 civic with about 15,500 miles, also I live in NJ, most of my driving is highway, but sometimes I’m in a lot of stop and go traffic. What are your opinions, anyone feel anything similar?
I notice something like that on mine too.. but I only have 12,000km, that's like 7000 miles or something..
I didn't really think much of it until now..
I always thought that the signs of a worn out clutch were the clutch slipping at low rpms in high gear (ie. flooring it in 3rd at 2000 rpm or less), and the clutch engaging with the pedal at the "top"..

I had a issues with my clutch yesterday that I couldnt shift into 2nd gear unless the rpms were way low I could downshift into 2nd just fine but going into 2nd it would just grind. It was like that for a mile now its just fine???? I know nothing about this crap...

Before my 02 EX was totalled I had the same kind of problem with the clutch, it kind of lerched and grabbed, almost like I didn't know how to drive a manual. I had the car for 17,000 miles and never liked the way the clutch felt, and I owned many other cars with manual trannies. It must be the way its designed because I bought a 03 Si and the clutch in that is smooth as silk, its night and day compared to my EX.
I have the lurching/grabbing problem every once in awhile in the morning as I'm leaving for work. I'm guessing it might be because everything's cold... I don't know. It only happens right after I shift to 2nd gear, and then it doesn't do it anymore.
*Shrug* I dunno. Once this clutch wears out I'll probably replace it with a performance clutch anyway.

its still doing it, and i think it is starting to get worse. So my question is how long is the clutch warrentied for? Also should i take my short throw out before i bring it to honda.
Here's my story from Tuesday. I went to the McD's drivethru for lunch. Pulled up and paid. When I put the clutch in it didn't come back up. Car wouldn't go into gear and an employee had to give me a push out of the drive thru.
It's still being fixed right now. I can't remember the exact problem cause I was so pissed off I wasn't listening too well but I had something to do with a slave cylinder I think. When I pick it up tomorrow I'll give the exact part that broke.

sounds about what they told me. the part has to come from either montreal or vancouver(depends on who i am talking to in the service dept.) and it was sent the day it happened and they still haven't got it as of a half hour ago.

I had 3 gears in my car replaced as part of a TSB and I had my short throw in the car when they fixed it.

Been having a few probs with my clutch as well, not sure if its a major issue or just an old clutch and pressure plate. when the car is in out of gear and the clutch out it clicks, I though it was somthing in the motor at first it but it only clicks when the clutch is engaged. its gotton to the point that now just around my power band it sound grindy and it takes alot to get the car moving, I rev to about three g's untill i'm moving at all. I have a new pressure plate throw out bearings and disk waiting to be put in I was just wondering if its a wast of time and I need a whole knew tranny. any info would be a big help, thanks

yeah its your pressure plate man... my cousins car wont move at all in first gear and you can even leave it in 1st gear without the clutch in and itll stilll run...
i got a loaner car and after i drove it (cough cough beat on it cough) it started doing a similar action i still dont know what the problem is but i think its kinda funny that i was able to destroy a rental car in only 300 mile haha well sorry this is almost no help but in my opinion it may just be the hydrolic clutch needs to be bled? i dont know good luck sorry
Honda test-drove my car, well so they said, but anyway they said there were no problems. The problem seems to go and come though, some days it does it, and most days it doesn't. So for now I think I’m just going to ignore it, I’m still under warranty.
