Exclamation Fuel Problem Or Something

Hey I am having a problem with my car almost dying on take off and the throtle doesn't work. This started happening about a week ago. Sometimes when I get in my car atart it up everything works great and I back up and then when I put it in first or just in not in gear the car accts like it is going to die and then i can hit the gas and nothing happens its like there is no fuel going anywere. I was just wondering if anyone knows what the hell is goiing on. I am going to to take it to honda as soon as I have a day off. The problem only happens for like 2 minutes and it never dies but it gets damn close to it. Thanks this is the best I can explain the issue.

Uhh, that depends. What year of car do you have? If it's newer, you may have a problem with the fuel pump, either wiring or the actual pump. If it's older (ie. 2-3 years) it could be the fuel pump, wiring to fuel pump, fuel filter, or you may have a vapor-lock in the fuel line. I would suggest that you buy a bottle of fuel system cleaner, and toss it in on the next fill-up. I put one in every oil change. What it does is clean out any water, or water vapor, cleans the injector tips, and gets the junk out of the lines. If you still have the problem, I would then say it's been narrowed to the fuel filter or pump.

Well it started after I put in an air fuel gauge and if I put in 93 octane fuel it will run fine but if i put in the cheap stuff it will do that. It doesn't do it all the time it just does it like mabey once every 2 days. I check all the cables and the fuel pump may be bad but it would do it more often I would think. I did splice a wire to the O2 sensor and I was also wondering if the o2 sensor goes bad or is not sending the correct amount of voltage would it cause it to do that. I was just wondering. I am going to take the wire tap off this weekend and leave it like that for a week to see if that changes anything. also its using alot more fuel I notice but it acts like it is going to die and sputs and sputters everyonce in a while and the gas pedal doesn't respond when being pushed. I know that it makes no sence but i am typing this really fast at work.

That's actually a good possibility. If you want to confirm this, I would reset your ECU when you disconnect your A/F guage. Just pull the "+" on the battery, and turn your key to the "ACC" setting. Let it sit for 10 min. and then reconnect your battery. Let the car idle for about 10-15 min. and then go for a drive.

I'm still kinda leaning towards some kind of junk in your fuel lines though. Try a bottle of fuel system cleaner (make sure it's for F/I vehicles). I think this because you said that with higher octane gas, it runs okay. To me that means that there is something "diluting"(best word I could think of) the fuel in your lines. Gas does have some detergents in it, but if you got a bad batch of gas or something, you may still have some of that crap kicking around in your fuel system. Besides $4 can't hurt too much to try it.
