I got a used Civic recently. Neither mirror was folding or tilting. I opened the driver side switch cover and the cable was disconnected purposely, I also noticed that the resettable fuse in each mirror had blown (to pieces).

I replaced the fuses, connected the cable, and both mirrors work. But only when the driver side door is >30% open.

Does anybody have any ideas? Should it be that the mirrors only work when the door is closed?

check wiring at the door hinge, they get damaged with door open/close
