Hi,
I'm installing my Valentine radar detector and I am tapping into the fuse box to power it. I am using fuse box #27, which is also the cigarette lighter. I bought the adapter to run the inline fuses, so I plug in the 2 fuses to the inline fuse, then plug that into the fuse box, #27. I ran the ground wire behind the bolt that holds the hood release.

Issue: the cigarette lighter works as expected, turns on with the car/accessories and off. The radar detector is always on. This doesn't make sense, since the cig lighter works as expected.

Can someone make sense of this behavior?

The lighter socket circuit isn't as simple as you'd expect.
Find a different fuse to tap

I tried them all! I ended up just tapping into my amplifier (which I didn't install) and that only comes on when the car is turned on.

The fuse is before the accessory relay.
