07 civic LX coupe, rear wheel cylinder leaks
Hello All. Need some help on the tightening torque settings on the rear drum wheel brake cylinders. The bleeders I found out are 5FTLB.
I am looking for the torque on the hard flare line that is a 3/16" OD line and the flare nut is 10mm.
At 10FTlb , it still seeps very slightly when the brake pedal is applied continually. The new cylinder is a HONDA OEM from a local dealer.
Have not replaced the hard line as of yet.

Where did you get 10 ft/lb from?
no idea what the spec is but that fitting needs to be alot tighter than that. Put the torque wrench down and get a set of line wrenches. Never seen anyone use a torque wrench on a brake line before.

Thank you for your reply. I found the Honda service manual and the line is 11FTLB, and 5 on the bleeder.
I have been trying to resolve this for several weeks and discovered that if I torque it pass 11 to around 13.5, it will leak more. At 10-11, it leaks the least. I have just replaced the hard line and the Cylinder with HOnda OE replacements but the leakage continues with no improvement. Just as a reminder, to test, the brake pedal is applied while the engine is running, braced in the depressed position and then engine off. I have it continually it this state for testing. The leak is very slow, but in about 4 hours, there is enough leak to wet a finger tip. If the brake pedal is not pressed , it does not leak.

Defect in the end of the line or the wheel cylinder fitting? Still think that torque spec is too low/unnecessary

Re: 07 civic LX coupe, rear wheel cylinder leaks
Try 25ft/lbs if you're going to keep using the torque wrench. Otherwise just snug it down with a line wrench until it stops leaking
Re: 07 civic LX coupe, rear wheel cylinder leaks
Good idea, I will do that in small increments. Thank you for your assistance.
