I have a 2012 civic 4 cyl
having major issues with the EPS. It all started about 3 years ago when the “check power steering” warning came on. You could steer the car but it required a lot of effort. I replaced the steering rack with a used one which lasted about 1-1/2 yrs before the exact same issue occurred. Again I replaced it with a used part and it lasted about 1 year and again the same issue except was getting a VSA error message. Again I purchased another used steering rack with only 75,000 miles (supposedly) on the vehicle and it didn’t make it 2 days and I’ve lost power steering and also getting the VSA error message. I know used parts are not the best way to go but a new or reman rack was extremely expensive and used was all I could afford.
I wondering if anything else be causing the total loss of power steering and the VSA error like the EPS CONTROLLER.

EPS should report fault codes that can be read by a scanner. That would give you a place to start.
