Rack and Pinion Replacement
Rack and Pinion Replacement
Hello - new to the forum and new to owning a Honda. Just picked up a 2006 Honda Civic that needs a new hydraulic rack and pinion. I'm struggling with just ordering a new Honda rack on Honda Parts Online or going aftermarket. Big $$ difference. Problem is all the negative reviews I've found on any aftermarket rack I was considering. Hoping I could get some recommendations from anybody who has used aftermarket racks and are pleased with there performance. Thanks!

Not sure which site you found a Honda Genuine (OEM) rack and pinion. The one I linked sells legit Honda genuine parts, but it states that the rack is remanufactured.
Colin's suggestion for a used rack is probably the best option. Whichever way you decide to go the concern is avoiding fluid contamination that could potentially severely reduce the life of a new or used rack. . New Honda genuine (OEM) fluid is a must and a flush should be performed. https://www.buyautoparts.com/blog/re...ng-racks-fail/
