Rep Power: 0 Can anyone identify buzz saw noise? In reverse, right rear wheel.
My wife's civic is making a strange and very loud buzz saw like noise occasionally while in reverse. I've attached a video.
Is it some kind of audible alarm from a sensor? I've done some web searches and some people say it's the brakes. Any ideas?
Thanks.

If you could please upload the clip to an audio hosting site that would be great. No one wants to download a random file.
Also not an alarm. Probably not the brakes, or they would make the same sound in drive/12345.
If it sounds like this it is normal, it's caused by the way the reverse gears are cut.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

It's the brake pad wear indicator squeal.
Needs a rear brake job if that's where the noise comes from
and check the fronts for wear
@mac25 Video plays fine, click his link. The way the squealers are designed, they tend to make noise in only one direction at first....
