Whining sound when accelerating from stop

Hello Civic fans -

I have a 2015 Civic. 65k and I have never had a problem with it. A few days ago I took it to a garage for inspection and an oil change. The next day I noticed a whining sound when accelerating from a complete stop. Once it shifts (a CVT, so I am not sure shift is appropriate), no more whining. Sometimes the RPMs get as high as 4000 if I keep the accelerator down. Feels like there’s no power. Otherwise, no problem. Higher “gears” are smooth as always. This evening I parked and could smell a dreaded burning smell from under the hood. This has certainly never happened.
The shop is probably 20 miles away. It’s too much to believe this is a coincidence so I want to take my beloved Civic back to the guys who harmed it. Not even sure it’s safe to do so. Any thoughts?

Did they show you a large sample of your cvt fluid, if so did they replace the extracted fluid?

They did not. Yesterday I found a puddle of transmission fluid under the car and took it to Honda. A pressure switch was bad, which the service people told me almost never happens. Too much of a coincidence, I think.
