2006 civic coupe ex manual trans coolant reservoir empty

Took car off road to change brakes and noticed my coolant reservoir is empty. The car ran fine before I started to replace the brakes.

I haven’t driven yet because I am still changing the brakes.

so did I just get lucky and catch it in time, the fact that I need to add coolant to my reservoir?

Or is this a common thing for this year make and model?

I found this article saying some 06-08 civics have a recall for engine burning coolant or over heating and bring it in to change engine for free.

i don’t think this is my problem but I am concerned that I found my coolant reservoir empty. I don’t even know how long it was like this. I admit I hadn’t really checked the fluids consistently until just recently. But I don’t want to be adding coolant all the time if I should be addressing a bigger issue.

thanks
