2012 Civic- weird sound after replacing air intake hose
I replaced the air intake hose in my 2012 Honda Civic, as the current hose had splits in it, allowing air in and causing hestitation while accelerating. The new hose fixed the hesitation, but now I have a whistling/squeaking sound developing immediately after the fix. It seems to be related to the crankcase pressure I suppose, as if I pull out the dipstick, the release in pressure eliminates the noise, until it builds back up again when the dipstick is replaced. Would you think this is related to the intake hose?
Re: 2012 Civic- weird sound after replacing air intake hose
Thanks for the feedback! Checked the PCV valve, which was ok. Took the new intake hose back off and determined that the part was faulty. The connection hole for the crankshaft ventilation insert was not open… totally blocked off! I’m dumbfounded as to how they could sell this. Lesson learned about ordering cheap parts I guess.

Thanks for the replies. I considered drilling it out, but just as quick to pick one up at the local Auto Zone, for the same price and with much better clamps and hardware. I'm returning the faulty part and leaving a review warning others that the part does not come ready to install.
Re: 2012 Civic- weird sound after replacing air intake hose
probably true, though there are 5 other reviews saying the same thing, all this year, so mine wasn't the first occurrence.
Should have read the reviews. My bad.
