New to forum and CIVICS
New member and new to Civics. Upcoming job transfer moves me 200 miles from family for a few years until my retirement. Will be traveling back and forth from work location to home on a monthly basis. Purchasing a 09 Civic LX 1.8lt with 179000 miles from a coworker that used the car exclusively to get from his home to work everyday. I'm new to Civics and Hondas. So I'm looking for maintenance recommendations, a service manual(if available) and what ever help/assistance I can get from you all. I was thinking with the high mileage its probably time for a timing belt or chain change?? Which does it have?
Tensioner, water pump, cam seal, crank seal, serpentine belt, fresh oil/filter change, trans filter/ fluid change before I put it on the road to my new work location. Just as well flush coolant and replace that as well. Should I use only OEM parts or are aftermarket brand name parts good? I want this car to be right before I put it on the 200 mile trips atleast once a month and be good for another 3-5 years until I retire. Any help/assistance would be greatly appreciated....
Car has had recent suspension work, a/c repairs and new windshield. Has normal scrapes and dings. But overall in great shape
Thanks,
Todd
