Rep Power: 296 What will remove this?
Hey Guyz-
Well, i decided I didnt want my sunroof visor on anymore so I took it off. After it was removed, you can see these lines of where it used to be. To try and get rid of them, I claybared, polished, and then waxed. No go, they are fainter, but still not gone. I really want to remove them....Any suggestions?
I dont think its because the paint is faded because the car is only 10 months old and is washed weekly.
Thanks.
Eli

Rep Power: 0 nope. i have used it plenty of times for different spots and things but it has never messed the paint up. i would not recommend leaving it on all day in the sun but if its on a rag or towel and you are rubbing.... well then you should be fine. no worries.

Rep Power: 0 Ok, try some meguiars paint cleaner to try and get this stuff off. Now if that doesn't work, then I would recommend using some clearcoat safe rubbing compound. It is abrassive and will definately remove that stuff. Use 3M rubbing compound for clearcoat cars. Hope this helps.

Rep Power: 0 Go to a detail shop all they will do is take some solvent on a rag and that should get rid of it. For the amount of time detailing and dealing with other detail shops I have never heard of using vinegar tho.

There are 2 things that I know of that you can try. You can first try Aftalyne. You can get it at Home Depot, or Lowes or any other store like that. It is a solvent that is for removing glue, oil, dirt and any other stain that you want to remove. It may work. After you use afta, make sure you wax over the spot....because it will dull the paint a little. It wont damage the paint though....dont worry, I have used it many times before on paint.....
The second thing you can do is take Masking tape and tape up the black strip that goes around your sunroof. Then take the masking tape and tape off the front windshield weather stripping. Now take some 3M rubbing Compound, Dont worry it is clearcoat compatible...and take a Buffer...Not an Orbital but a real Polishing machine and pour the 3m compound onto the car...dont use too much. Take the polisher and put it on a speed of maybe 4...nothing too high...and go over the spots you are trying to remove...Work the compound in good....Dont stay in one spot, or you will burn the paint....and then when you are done....you will need to glaze the spot in a back and forth motion, and then Finish with wax....You should of removed the lines. If this doesnt work....There is always wet sanding....but I wouldnt do that unless you are experienced...I would bring it to a detailer or bodyshop
