Rep Power: 0 Paint Touchup SCREWUP: Please Help
I have used all the right techniques while touching up a foot-long scratch on my wife's car:
-Wetsand
-Prime
-Paint with touchup paint from the dealer
-Wetsand with a sanding block with 2000 grit paper in it
-Polish with 3M finish restorer
Unfortunately, I overdid the second wetsanding with the block, and exposed primer on 2 quarter-size patches around where the scratch was. Now I'm not sure what to do to remedy this.
The problem is that even though the primer is exposed in 2 relatively small areas, I think that the whole area (about 4"x1') doesn't have that much paint left on it.
Do I need to repaint this whole affected area?
What would you recommend?

Rep Power: 280 i'd take it to a body shop and get them to fix it, sounds like you messed up your wife's car pretty good. you never want to use touch up paint if the scratch is bigger than a couple of centimeters, otherwise the paint will look like crap.

I was afraid you'd say that. Looks indeed like I'd have to have the whole panel repainted. At least, it means the dent (that's part of this scratch) will be taken care of as well. Stupid bicyclist that hit the car
