Waxed car, now there are scratches all over!
I just waxed my car using meguiar's yellow wax, and at night I noticed there are hundreds of surface scratches all over. They're harder to see in the daylight, but at night its terrible. And yes, I just washed the car before I put it on and used soft diaper cloths to wipe it. Is wax supposed to scratch like this?
Is there anyhting that will take the scratches out?

What did you use to apply it?? Sandpaper?? I would think at night it would be harder to see the scratches then in direct sunlight.........
I don know man.........i didnt think it was that hard to apply wax.

Just so you know after you wax a car, it is easier to see all the scratches that were there before. I highly doubt that the wax scratched your car. Did you accidently drop the applicator or the towels on the ground and then continue to use them?? You may possibly had some dirt on the applicator or the towels.....I really dont know what else would of caused this.

Diapers aren't necessarily the best for buffing cars. It depends on the material.. 100% cotton is an absolute MUST. You can fix your car... get an orbital buffer, some 100% cotton terry cloth pads, and some Meguiars Swirl Reducer/Remover. Follow up with a coat of Meguiars Show Car Glaze, and then put your wax back on. It'll look showroom again.

i havnt used meguires swirlmark remover but i use 3M for dark colored cars.. works nice.. but its almost a must to have an orbital buffer as you'd get tired after one small panel. you have to keep rubbing the same spot for like 5 mins for all the swirls to disappear.
oh and remember, minor abrasives such as swirlmark remover fixes the swirls, glaze only hides them. but either way your going to get swirls so...

That's why I'd recommend using both. You get your swirls removed, then the glaze adds depth and takes care of any other imperfections before you apply your protective coat.

I use the 3M stuff as well and it works wonders...too bad the 3 step process of prep/polish/protect (just like the 4 P's of marketing!) take soooo long!

You probably didn't notice them until that shiny coat of wax glorified them. It's called have a dark colored car.
IMO, I don't think you can touch the car w/o scratching the clear coat no matter how careful you are. Even putting the wax, polish, etc.., on in back in forth motions causes scratches. They are just vertical and horizontal instead of circular.

Best process ever...
Wash -> Megguiar's ScratchX -> Meguiar's Deep System Crystal Polish -> Meguiar's Gold Class Carnuba Paste Wax...
You'll never be happier, especially if you have a black car. (which i do)

i dont think scratchx should be used all the time cause it has minor abrasives that actually "sand" the surface[hr]

Normal Wash at least once a week
Scratch X twice a year.
Polish maybe 5 times a year
Wax about 10
I'm pretty sure that's what the Meguier's web site recommends. You can always check their website though.
