Call me crazy......
but when I "wash" my car the only thing I use is a high pressure hose (downtown carwash). I get there, put the money in, high pressure rinse, then soap, then rinse again. I then squeegee the windows and dry my car with the "absorber". I've gotten pretty good results, there seems to be no apparent dirt left on the car, but I'm only going by what comes off onto my drying towel thing. Is what I'm doing wrong or what? I mean I've read a lot of the posts, and they say only use a certain mitt, and soap.....blah blah blah. And also whats the right way to apply wax? I always thought circular motions were right, but then I read that was WRONG, that straight lines were the way. Well I'm getting ready to wax my car tomorrow, so any help is appreciated.
when waxing you want to go with the flow of the car. If you make circle or swirl the wax on you will have a bad wax job resulting in swirl marks and hazing on your car ie looks like crap up close. If you have to use that type of wash on your car, wet it down trying not to apply the water pressure directly on your cars paint then with a seperate bucket of water and car soap wash your car down. If you have a mitt or soft sponge it will work best. Then rinse the car with water, finally dry it off with your preference (mine is an absorber). You can get a bucket, sponge, car soap, and some wax for about $15 from Walmart if not less. Yes, it is worth the investment. Hope this helps otherwise read some of the forums along with the DIY for total car care
