I work at a car dealship and we have to polish crome rims all the damn time. I use this meguiar's buffing compound and it works great. I know you may not have access to that but you can use any type of polish. I personally would go with Meguiars. Make sure you dont go with heavy polishes or you will scratch the rims. Just look on the back when you buy it and just make sure it isnt extremely heavy.

If you want to wax your rims, Use any type of wax with Carnuba in it.
Meguires
Mothers
Gliptone
Kit are a few that I can think of.

I would use a Liquid wax. You can clean your rims with car wash when you are washing your car. Just do not use the same sponge that you use on the paint, you may scratch the car that way. Use a seperate sponge or wash mitt that you only use on the rims. After you wash and dry your rims you can wax them
