Well, for one, I know that if you want the dirt off there, you need to wash with soap...if you just wash with water, sooner or later all that dirt and contaminants will be building up on the paint which is not good! I suggest Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo and COnditioner car wash with a CLEAN wash mitt...that stuff does wonders and it preserves the layer of wax on your car....then follow up with the 3 Step System from Meguiar's...your car will look flawless then!

I never understood how people could just use water to wash their cars. My neighbor does the same thing. He uses a really wet towel and hoses the car down and goes over it with the towel. The car doesnt look that glossy, probably because it has never been waxed. When you wash a car and you dont use soap, you are just wiping the dirt into the paint causing scratches...I would recommend you to start using soap....make sure it is car soap, and not palmolive.

You can use regular soap to take off the old wax if your waxing again though...

Same with me... What I like to do is pour the soap in the bucket and spray it with high pressure so there's lots of suds... IMO lots of suds is really good...

NO never use regular detergent like palmolive.....

its greese eating particles remain active on the surface of the vehical and will eat away at your fresh layer of wax

well since I switch cars usually my civic doesnt get dirty enough to use soap. So usually i just use the California duster on it to wipe of dust and then i use water, then quick detailer.

i use the same stuff and it gets the best shine, using water would just get it wet. why do you spend time washing it if you could just leave it out in the rain?

Besides stripping off the wax, what are the dangers of using dish soap? I don't use dish soap, but my father wanted to know why it is bad.

Thanks.

detergents that you use to wash dishes are too strong and acidic. its made to cut up grease. use it on your car and it will cut up all that dirt and wax and also leave some film of detergent on your paint which will eat at it.
