Rep Power: 0 Wash after wax...
Just a quick question that I couldn't find an answer to: I waxed my car a couple days ago, and I washed my car - it was pretty hot out too, by the way...I tried running my hand over the car, and it wasn't smooth anymore. I had the guys do a basic wash, no wax, when I washed it...did my wax just come off? Someone else said it might've...

Rep Power: 322 I think it's ok, but i really like that smooth feel of the wax I usually end up waxing it again just for the feel

Rep Power: 0 I find that if I just wax my car, yes, it feels nice and smooth but if it rains on it a day after I wax it or sometime soon after that, it gets really bright!

Rep Power: 372 Question for you, When you say you had the guys do a basic wash, was it at a car wash? Or did they wash it by hand? If it was at a car wash, it is possible that the wax you applied is gone. The car wash uses very strong chemicals to get your car clean. The chemicals that they use are not very good for the paint. They will strip wax and if there isnt any wax on the paint, the chemical will strip and dull the paint. I never goto the car wash with my car. If I need the car cleaned and I cant do it at home, I take it to a hand car wash or a car detailer and let them do it.

Rep Power: 0 Sorry for getting back like two days after I asked the question...yeah I had a car wash do it - I actually needed to strip off the wax anyhow, so it all worked out. I usually wash it by hand, but this time I had to go somewhere and didn't have enough time to do it myself...I handwashed it today, claybarred it for the first time, and put on a coat of wax, so it's all good. Thanks for the advice guys!
