Overtime it could cause some damage.
Waxing your car after you have washed it will help prevent damage.

all of these questions could've been put in a single thread... although I see you're probably trying to achieve member status.

this time i'm just going to tell you to search coz there's so many threads about all of the questions you're asking. I've been patient but this is getting out of hand

If you leave the water spots on the car it WILL etch into the paint and leave marks!! If you dont have time to wax dry the car and then take the Meguiars quick detailer and use it all over the car and you good to go

You don't need to wax every time. Just dry it and check for water spots. I would do the quick detailer regardless as it really adds to the shine, removes leftover residue, and adds another layer of protection.

Well damn, I'm pretty much f*cked..
I almost never dry my car after a wash, and I've only waxed once.

You really can't see it that well on light colored cars. It's the dark colors that you have to really be finicky with because every least little darn **** thing shows up.

- water spots on black cars suck. the only time i won't see a water spot on my car, is if i don't drive it. and that's never gonna happen.
