good way to apply touch up paint??

i got used aero side skirts and they have 2 big noticable scratches on them. I have a touch up paint pen but whenever i apply it the paint that comes out seems to be higher than the actually side skirt...like there is too much paint coming out but i tryed smoothing it down to fill in the crack but than it doesnt cover it up, i tryed applying it lightly but it still didnt work...anyone have any good techniques they use for applying it?

there is no good way. if the scratch isnt down to the black plastic, you can buff it with scratchx and it should look better.

There are non, just let it be higher or repaint the whole sides
(Did you notice the touch-up on my sides? Probably not, no one does )
