Thumbs up just used clay on my car. Wow

I've been reading about clay and how it makes such a difference so I thought I would give it a try. I can't believe how my car looks.

My car sits outside 24/7, but I wash it a lot and it's just 2 years old, so I didn't think it would be that different when it was done.

I was WAY off. The car is like glass right now. It is so smooth I can't get over how it feels. It never felt this good from the day I bought it. I mean it feels good when you wax it, but it still doesn't compare to what it is now.

If anyone out there has not tried using clay on their car, I would advise you to. It made a big difference on the shine, and the overall look. It took off some nasty road tar marks, bug guts off the front, and took tree sap off like nothing.

I still can't get over how nice it looks. I took my time so it took me like an hour and a half to do the whole car.

I just bought a kit at like autozone. Mothers California Gold Clay Bar in a box. It was by the wax stuff. It came with the clay bar, the lubricant to spray on the car, and caranuba wax to seal it.

If you want to see shine back in your paint, I'd give this product 2 big thumbs up.

On the subject of getting that 'factory' (or better) shine back. I did my wife's car (a Nissan) up with the Mothers Gold 3 step system. Pre-cleaner, Glaze, then Wax.

I'm completely sold on the value of a pre-cleaner. (once or twice a year). Starting with a clean, just washed car -- I pulled an amazing amount of dirt off of it during the pre-clean phase. Then when putting the glaze and wax on, there was basically no dirt on the wax pads.

The shine has lasted 2 months now, and the water still beads up when it rains. This is one excelent wax job. Took a bunch of time (4hrs for whole job)

I'm also sold on clay bars.

I'll post some pics later today. It was like in the middle of the night that I finished the job. Too dark.

I'll get some pics up later today so you can see. The only bad thing is that my car is silver. So it doesn't give a mirror shine like a solid "red, blue, black" etc car would.

But I'll post some pics.

Smile

You really have to run your hand on the paint to really understand it. Silver paint has the fleck in it which hides the dirt, but also doesn't make it shine like a polished black car. It is better than the pictures show, but here you go.

Take my word. It shines, and it feels like it never has. It's better than the day I bought it..... 2 years ago from the dealership.

Take your time and go do it this weekend or whatever. You'll be happy. You'll want to keep opening the door just so you can touch the paint over and over again.

I just used the Meguilars Quik Clay last night and it looks good.

The second time you wash the car (right after claying it) it feels like your passing the sponge on a cloud, the car is so smooth. plus, the clay bar was kind of brown when I was done.

Yup, bug goo is no problem - as long as the "deep-down" stuff isn't burned into the paint, normal stuff that is left after washing will also come off, if you take your time & run a few passes over the area (hood, grille, etc.) Just be sure not to do in direct sunlight and to keep the area wetted down with lubricant, Clay Magic detailing clay - used it 2 wks ago, Stuff rocks!

Yeah I was amazed after a major wash job, that the clay still really pulled out as much crap as it did. The only downfall is that after going over my car as close as I did, I found like 4 very very very minor dings. Now I have to get those taken out.

use quik detailer & a microfiber towel after you've washed/dryed, and it will make it shine and keep that glass look finish.

also... don't forget to use it on the front windshield (the others as well if you want). i had water spots, deep grimed in dirt, and they all disappeared, and made the glass shine just like it was new.
