is it ok to use hot water?
Is ok to use hot water when washing my car, not like boling hot, but more like bath water hot. The only thing that i noticed is that my wax job dosent last a long if i was using cold water.

Just use warm water. It's good enough. It's not good to change the car temp too much. If it's warm out, don't use freezing cold water.

^^^ this man knows as what he is saying.
never take your car to the automatic washes. they do too much wrong. for one the machines don't clean everything up. the brissles and such touch the floor and all sorts of other filth whch eventually will touch your car. that's what creates swirls. Not to mention, the idiot towel boys use the most contaminated towels. the towels are filled with soot and more dirty, it's rediculous.
That's why I say "you want something done, do it yourself".
My advice to you is just to try and wash your car yourself whenever you can during the winter season. if you miss a week, it's ok... no big deal... nothing bad will really happen. just don't take it to the machine wash, you will kick yourself in the face summer time when the weather clears.
oh, i doubt hot water will hurt. if your car's paint is room temp, i think it's fine. if it's been siting out in below zero temps and you spray like 85 degree water on the paint, then i would be a little concerned. i think you're ok.

Also be cautious of the temp. of your windows. In the summer, if your cars been out in the sun and the glass is extremely hot to the touch then let it cool before you spray the windows, they may bust.
In the winter, vice versa; if the windows are extremely cold, let them warm up a bit before spraying them.

if it is too cold then go to the car wash where u do it urself........just spray it with soap and rinse......don't use the brushes, there is too much dirt in them. Hand wash is the best, but at least u get most of the dirt and salt off.......and always spary underneath ur car and in ur wheel wells.

DON'T use automated car washes! they will scratch your paint job, it'll look like someone took an sos pad and scrubbed the hell out of it. just use warm/cold water with a quality car soap along with a good plush wash mitt (remember to agitate the wash mitt in the bucket each turn to create suds and loosen dirt that may have gotten on the mitt. if necessary... make a new solution if extremely dirty and hose of mitt as well). works everytime for me!
the brushes and bristles never get your car clean, and they act like sandpaper.
not only does the automatic car wash screw up your paint it can scratch up your rims. the wheel rollers that push your car through can come in contact wiht your rims.
oh yea and did you know that car washes use recycled water to wash your car?? hmmm still want to get that SUPER KLEEN WASH for only $10 bucks?
