Should I presure wash carpet

I bought my civic off my parents, and the interior carpet is a mess. I was thinking of taking it all out on my day off and preasure washing it. Anybody think it's not a good idea?

I would not spray water in your car. You can spray the matts...sure thats no problem as long as they areint in the car and you let them ample time to dry in the sun. If you spray water on the mats while in the car you will get mildew and a smell that you can never get rid of. If you want to clean the mats and carpet get a really strong carpet cleaner....and a carpet brush and scrub them down...Then Vaccumn the residue away.....

Haha that's a given not to spray water while inside the car, I was removing everything outside of the car and giving it good dry time. I know that if you hang the floor mats it doesn't take long to dry.

You can shampoo your interior. That would be a lot better than spraying inside your car. How much are you paying to get the car professionally done?

I used to work at a detail shop. I believe the standard procedure is to use a very low spray, enough to get it wet enough to lather in carpet soap. Scrub it and use a wet/dry vac to dry it.

I currently work at a place that details cars, and our best detail job costs 149.95, and does everything including under the hood, clean your carpets, everything you could ever want. Alot of the people that bring us cars for that usually come in pretty clean.

As for your mats, what you described is actually something we do. We take a degreaser and soak the spots, then we use a pressure washer and get real close to get all the dirt and stains way out, then we have a shampooer that we go over every inch of carpet and mat with. This is a perfectly safe thing to do, and my advise to you is to make friends with someone that works there. I usually hook all my friends up with $150 details for free. :P Not to mention my own car.

i wouldnt. the carpet is just going to get water logged and you're going to have to hang it out for days to allow it to dry
