waxing for a brand new car

ima wax my brand new 03 civic..
ima wash it with meguiars deep crystal car wash..
but my question is..
should i do a paint cleaner and polish for brand new?

also..is this correct order?

rinse
wash
rinse
dry
paint cleaner
polish
wax
done..

right?
or do i have to rinse and dry between paint cleaner and polish and wax? dont think so tho..
how long do i have to wait between those process?
and if i wanna 2 coats of polish and 2coats of wax..how long do i have to wait between each coat of polish? each coat of wax?

Hi slamtank,
Wow your full of pep LOL
I have a new Civic EX (4 mon old) and about a month after I bought it
I bought some "Mothers Super Wax" and all I did was wash my car and
dry it with a soft towel and then I waxed it.
IMO , I should have used a better wax , but it still looks good.
I think I`ll do it again before winter ( I hate winter )
Just think how long "our cars" would last without "salt and freezing temps"
Curio> What color is your car , my is Shoreline Mist.
Take care , best of luck

You dont need to Polish a new car. You can wax your car at any time if you like. I washed, glazed and waxed my friends girlfriends Black civic the day she got it. I did not like the way they cleaned it. If you want your car to shine and have a good coat of wax on it....This is what you should do:
Wash the car
Dry with a chamois
Apply a coat of Glaze...either Meguires, mothers, or 3m.
Always use back and forth motions to apply and remove the glaze and the way. You do not want to create swirl marks or make existing ones bigger.
Apply a coat of wax...to the whole car. I recommend Gliptone, Kit, Mothers Yellow wax, and Meguires Gold.
Wipe the whole car down with a very soft towel.
Then wipe the car down again with a Micro fiber towel. This towel will remove what ever excess wax you didnt remove while you wiped off the wax.

Yup !
Black , ok , if you ever get small scuff marks that drive you crazy
try meguiars swirl remover #9.
Works great.

detailing for a new car..

i have two plans and will choose one of them..
the one is
washing drying then meguiars show car glaze #7, and meguiars hi-tect yellow wax #26.

another one is
washing drying then meguiars 3step step1 paint cleaner, step2 polish, and meguiars hi-tect yellow wax #26.

which one do u think is better for brand new car?
its about a week old.
and its from factory when i got my car it had 2 miles on it.
now it has some dusts on it..not some but much imo
which one do u think is safer and nicer?

Slam, what color is your car?

Meguiar's #7 followed by Meguiar's #26 = One Killer Shine!

For a brand new car, chances are that you will not need to use Step1. Also, Meguair's #7 and Meguiars #26 are superior to Meguiar's step2 & Step3 in every possible way. Pay a little extra money and use #7 and 26.

But before you apply the glaze and wax, I would clay your car, since even brand new cars will usually benefit from claying.

Yeah, Show Car Glaze 7, and Wax 26 are awesome...
MY civic is black and this sept. it will be one year old, but looks damn new, cause I
started applying right away.
Even if it's new, polish is good to do anyway, cause whether you like it or not,
the car may have light scratches already. And polishing will help to hide them, and
polishing will deepen the color, and is the secret to a great wet gloss look anyway!
Then apply the wax for protection!
You can apply the wax right after polishing...no real waiting period...just a break
for yourself while busting your *** between jobs!

You dont need to use the Polish because the glaze will remove light scratches. If you are going to use the meguires glaze then apply it in a shaded cool dry area. Use a back and forth motion, and rub it in good. Leave it on the car for 30 minutes so the oils in the glaze can work its magic...Then wipe it off the car. It may smear a little but dont worry...the wax will cover it up. Also remember to use a back and forth motion when removing the glaze, applying the wax, and removing the wax.
Have fun.

GrayGhost is on a distinguished road
Becareful though, It is recommended not to claybar or wax a car until it's atleast 3 months old to insure that the paint has set up and dried properly.

I work for a Honda detail shop and we don't do either to brand new ones until they are old enough.

Well, paint technology has changed a lot... This is definitely recommended for single stage paints, but for two stage paints that are being used today, this precaution is by and large unnecessary.

OEM paints are fully cured at the factory via bake booth activated catalysts.

Aftermarket body shop work on the other hand, needs 30 days to fully cure.

And even if the car HADN'T fully cured, using a claybar is safe to use on fresh paint as long as you use a body-shop safe QD as lube....or better yet, diluted car shampoo.

Very true...I have washed and waxed cars the day I got them. I also worked for a few car dealers and we used to wax the cars when they went out for delivery....You gotta remember that before the car arrived at the dealer, it was sitting in a lot for months prolly after it was built and before it was shipped. The paint is fully cured.

As for the clay, you have nothing to worry about as long as you use the normal fine clay...If you are using medium clay, to remove stuff from the paint...then I would advise against it. Thats not the clay that you get at your everyday autoparts store though....Its a special clay available at body supply stores.
