2005 honda civic d17a1 to a jdm d17a with vtech

Ok here are aome questions i bought a 2005 honda civic perfect interior needs two fenders kinda and 2 headlights the motor was blown for 200 bucks i know jdm motors are like 500 bucks so i bought it now the jdm motor is a vtech need help kus my honda isnt vtech and the guy said when putting it in leave the vtech unplugged i dont know what he was talking about also will this leave me with a CEL is it possible that the honda civic wont know the motor wont have vtech and my harness wont have a plug for it pleaseee dieing for answers

It’ll work, but since your wiring harness won’t have the connector for the VTEC solenoid, it will throw a code.

It will only throw a code if using a VTEC ECU. If using your stock ECU it will not throw a code.

so do i just leave it unplugged or shoud i plug in the other plug that would normally go there

If you're using your stock engine harness you won't have a plug for it. If you simply want a running replacement engine with no faults and are using the stock ECU just leave the VTEC solenoid alone. If you actually want VTEC to function you will need a VTEC ECU or a VTEC controller and then wire in the solenoid. Multiple threads available discussing how to do this.
