Just an opinion poll and thoughts
Ok, long story short, I have an 05 ‘Vic with that powerhouse D17 engine. Thoughts and opinions openly sought for the best bang for the buck budget build engine. Not trying to pay for the k20/24 swap but definitely looking to upgrade to a different engine with better aftermarket support.

The D17 is pretty fun with boost. Stock block can handle 8psi (10psi has been reported with a really good tuner). In addition to all the plumbing and hardware, DC5 RSX-S injectors (and maybe a walbro 255lph pump), good fuel/engine management system (kpro is or at least was a popular choice), and a good tuner is all you really need. Converting to a return-style fuel system would make it even better.

If you're dead set on this car, build the chassis first.
Proper suspension, a good tire setup, brakes (you'll probably wanna run 4-wheel disc), etc, so when you're ready for more power, the car can actually handle it.
Absolutely not worth it financially speaking, but I used to be irrationally in love with my EM2 as well, so I get it.
