This part here..I was wondering if anyone knows if the foam cushion is glued on..The part has a broken plastic mounting clip at the top .I was going to go to the junkyard and find another one..if it is ragged (the one from the junkyard) I was thinking about using the plastic solid part of the new one and mount the foam cushion and upholstery from the current broken one to the new one. If the foam is glued on it could get messy(the red circled part in the bottom image is broken..the hooked part of it.)
This is the piece that broke off .. looking from inside of trunk with the trunk cover peeled back.. EDIT; If anyone tries to remove this from the junkyard, remove the 10mm bolt then go in the trunk remove the trunk cover where you can locate that plastic clip and pry up on it from that hole or go back inside the car and gently wiggle it from side to side while pushing up...it will break again more than likely according to an experienced helper at the junkyard if you just try to force things from inside the car..
Big EDIT HERE
Went to a junkyard and located the exact replica..same car same paint same upholstery..I tried pulling the part but it wouldn't budge, it was frozen in place from rust on that plastic tab..I got a guy from the yard to try and pull it for me..well that one broke too. On the way out of the yard I saw a 2001 Civic different color different upholstery but I planned to exchange upholstery.that part came free and I took it home and exchanged upholstery..the foam wasn't glued to the plastic and it was a breeze exchanging the upholstery..END OF STORY..PHEEEWWE..
I'm just giving this pretty good advice if you need to remove that part to put new rear speakers in or replace a broken trunk-gas filler door release cable etc .etc
