Friend just told me that Honda extended the deadline for replacing broken sunvisors!
They said Honda is not contacting owners; it's "word of mouth". If your Civic miles are under 100k, or you bought it less than 7 yrs ago, Honda will replace broken sunvisors for free.
Seems there was a class action lawsuit settled in 2011, the year after I bought my 8th gen Civic!
First I'm hearing about it, check it out with the link above.
Honda agreed to reimburse ppl for expenses to replace their broken sunvisors, so long as Honda didn't have to say it was a design flaw.
I see there's a whole Sunvisor thread, no mention of it.

Re: 'Secret' recall Civic sunvisors?
No secret. Original and registered owners were notified. You can find the info and bulletin about it on the internet.
The warranty was extended on only certain civics m/y 06-09, but there is no recall.
Extended to 7 years or 100,000 miles whichever comes first.
But I seriously doubt any of the affected cars are less than 7 years old at this point.
I just drove some connecting nuts/bolts through the visor on my ex's 08, enough to clamp down around the hinge part. Cost me like $5 and about 30 minutes to do a quick and easy fix that wasn't too obtrusive.
used 3 sets of these for a flush-ish look, and it's still holding fine and letting the visor operate normally to this day
Bought some bronze ones to be a bit less obvious compared to the tan inner color

You own the broken stuff now.
I'm an original & registered owner; never got notified. Of course, the suit was settled in 2011, when my car was brand new.
