Wheel Alignment after strut install
Wheel Alignment after strut install
Hey All, I am installing new struts all 4 corners on a 2004 civic coupe. Do you suggest a wheel alignment after the install? I'm also replacing a wheel bearing on the front drivers side. The reason for the struts is the rubber sleeves look rotten, no apparent leaks but rides like a wagon. Hoping this will improve the ride. So, how do alignment shops adjust the front/back wheel camber etc?

Site questions section is to ask about the internet site.
You have a 7th gen car, you have a mechanical problem. Moving to proper section of the forums.
Strutted dars usually dont have camber adjustment
Caster and tie front, toe rear are what is possible with stock parts.
Changing strut requires alginment

It's a good idea to do an alignment, however if they're not leaking they're probably still ok. Do a bounce test on each corner

Thanks Colin42! Struts also make a banging noise over rough spots on the road. I do have low profile 17" wheels but,... don't think it should ride like a rigid framed Harley!. Got a great deal on struts, gonna change all 4 corners, see what happens. Got a quote for $125 -all in - for the alignment. Kinda bugs me when I think, ...."do alignment shops really go to spec"? or do they, "get the car in, get it out", tell you, .......all good? Just once, it would be nice if the shop would say "hey, come on back, let's show you how we do the work, so you understand that your vehicle is good or bad" You know what i mean,?... dog track, tire wear, front end shot, not worth fixing? But, ... business would go south if honesty was in the forefront. GOD BLESS the honest mechanic!!! Note: not painted all mechanics with the same brush! Just saying.

Re: Wheel Alignment after strut install
They do ride stiffer than most cars, the wheels aren't helping either. They'll align to spec. Banging might be control arm bushings
