Ok to replace only one strut with aftermarket brand?
Ok to replace only one strut with aftermarket brand?
2004 civic 4 dr LX rear right strut is shot. Leaking and bounces a bit compared to the left side. Is it ok to replace just one strut with an aftermarket one such as this:

I'd much rather do this especially when the left side is perfectly fine. It'll save me from having to buy 2 for $110 from detroitaxle.

Re: Ok to replace only one strut with aftermarket brand?
That strut is FCS brand according to the listing. That's not a bad brand for the money. I have used a few of them in cars for family members to save them money. The fitment was good and they have been performing fairly well for a few months (maybe a year) now.
I believe the only problem I encountered during installation was that the hole for the brake hose bracket wasn't threaded. It took a while to thread, but I got it to work. Overall, pretty good struts for the money IMO.
Regarding installation, that job can go south real fast if you live in the rust belt. Here's a link to a video that shows it:
Just be prepared.

I just wanted to know if it's ok replacing one side and not both at the same time, I don't want to be wasteful even though the parts are cheap. The rear left side is firm and does not bounce. The rear right side I want to replace is shot (leaking fluid) and bouncey.
