Brakes Squeaking

Yeah i have a 2001 lx sedan, the first 5 minutes the breaks squeak at low speeds, but after awhile the squeaking stops. And in order to come to a full stop i have to be pushing like more than half way, is that normal?

Brake squeek is normal, but i suggest that you have them checked to make sure they havent worn down to far.

if the rear brakes are drum brakes, they'll probably atleast need adjusting. if it's disc all the way around the car, more than likely something is worn out if there is that much travel in the pedal. give them a good cleaning as well if nothing is worn out.

And if i wanted to replace the rear drums with discs is that possible? Will it mess up anything? Do you recommend it?

if you havent changed your pad in a long time it's probably your brake pads out. the squeaking will progress with in 2 weeks. if you wanna check , lift your car, take the wheel off of one of the front corners and just look on the side of the caliper, there should be a small peep hole. there will be a thinner metal layer and then the pad itself.

for rear disks, you gotta get them off an 02-03 EP3 (si model) cant use 04-05 because they're 5 lug pattern. but honestly just get new brake shoes if any. the disks are great, but $$$ if you're only going down the street and back. unless you autocross/track :P
