Help to diagnose my noise problem

I have a 2004 civic with automatic, the car has 80k miles and the transmission has around a second delay in engaging when switching from N to D or from N to R, also kind of jump a bit. Is is not a smooth shifting when switching N-D or N-R. The most concerning aspect is a crunching noise when i press the gas pedal from a dead stop. The noise got worst if the car is stopped in a hill and you press the pedal hard.
Any idea of what it could be?
-When i purchase the car I replaced the oil with genuine fluid the level seems ok.
-I have conflicting information regarding the trans filters, apparently it has one inside and one outside? the inside it is not recommended to remove apparently....

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!!

Re: Help to diagnose my noise problem

It will only have an internal filter unless someone has added an external filter. Have you checked the fluid?
Crunching could be wheel bearings, cv shafts, brakes, etc

Re: Help to diagnose my noise problem

It is unfortunately something in the transmission, only does it in the first 5 feet of moving, the fluid is ok and brand new...I replace it believing that would solve the problem but it is not. Thanks

What proves the noise in inside the transmission? I'd hate to see you replace the trans just to find the noise was a bad CV, caliper, or wheel bearing.

Re: Help to diagnose my noise problem

Look at the threads about the “Tyler” method. If push comes to shove I’d try that before replacing the trans, if that is what’s actually wrong. Mine has 202k miles on it and still works fine.
