Is this the sign of a bad input shaft bearing?
Getting clutch done soon and transmission has for a while (probably several years at this point) made a sound only when the clutch engaged in neutral, foot off of pedal:
Most noticeable in a garage (echo-y) when the car is cold. Is a bit quieter when the car warms up. If it's out in a parking lot you'd never know it was happening. I don't hear anything while driving.
I called up a few shops and they said it's likely the throw out bearing and one even said pilot bearing, but, going off of this post and several others I've read on here and I'm assuming the mechanics are wrong it's the input shaft bearing. With $125/hr labor rates, I can't afford to pull the trans twice.
Curious what you all think.
Also, account registered in May 2004 and this if my first post. Hi!

Yeah it's the input shaft bearing.
if you can pull the trans yourself and drop it off at the trans shop you'll save a ton of labour cost.

Unfortunately I only have a breaker bar, torque wrench and a few sockets to my name... good enough for simpler stuff that I've done like bearings, brakes, suspension, etc.
I've pretty much told myself that I'd do easy stuff and save bigger jobs like tbelt/clutch for the shops, ha.
I found a local Mustang performance shop and the guy there is awesome -- said he's done a clutch/input shaft bearing on a civic D series before and quoted me a very fair price.

Thanks for the reply and confirming my suspicions.
