Mounts going or the trans?

I posted before, but no one commented. I got a 04 EX with 54k miles, 5 speed MT. When i put it into reverse, and let the clutch out, sometimes there's a rattling noise from under the hood. It doesn't happen if I rev the engine and "ride" the clutch, but if I try to balance it out, it comes up, especially if I bog the engine a bit. Could this be a mount or the trans itself? I just changed the fluid in the trans, but it has the original clutch.

Also, the bite point on the clutch is pretty sudden. I'd say less than an inch. Is this normal? It's so hard to get it off the line smoothly. Should I have the trans inspected during my next service? Can you adjust the bite position? It's kinda high, and I know this is a hydraulic clutch, so ya, just wondering.

Sorry, I'm more used to older cars, so this one is a bit of a mystery to me. I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Re: Mounts going or the trans?

all i can help with is the mount. you can see if its torn and sometimes feel around for the rubber part inside. civics have all sorts of problems with these and usually the shared engine/trans mount is the first to go. i was surprised how much it affected shift quality on my auto when one leg of the shared mount broke. and this was not even the dedicated trans mount, which was fine. trans mount is somewhere on the passenger side sortof near the battery under the stock intake. front shared mount is down at the bottom in the middle of the radiator.

Re: Mounts going or the trans?

thanks for the help. Ya, I'll have them check the mounts next time I go in. Anyone know what I can expect in the way of costs? I would just do it myself, but I moved to the city, so I have no where to do it. The obvious choice would be to go to the dealer, but I know they're gonna cost me an arm and a leg.
