03 LX, Junk radiator?
03 LX, Junk radiator?
Working on sisters 03 LX, 1.7. Original radiator tank cracked, replaced it with a O'Reilly Murray brand radiator. Went about a year before it started to significantly leak, saw radiator was quite dry after seeing temp gauge rise while idling in driveway with A/C on. Found coolant pooling up near bottom passenger side of radiator.
Replaced radiator under warranty, new one is leaking in the same spot as old one!
Checked hoses, cap, reservoir, nothing is wet around those areas, except for the passenger side bottom tank area. Seems odd that two of the same brand would leak in the same spot. The second leak developed within a few days of replacement..
Was nice to radiator while putting in..
Am I just dealing with garbage radiators, or a more significant issue? Coolant is nice and green, no smoke whatsoever from tailpipe, heater blows hot. Radiator does not smell of oil or fumes, oil cap does not smell or coolant. The car was purchased used with 138k, with an overheat issue. Previous owner couldn't figure out how to replace temp sensor near valve cover...
What would you guys recommend? Should I try a different rad? Denso?
Thanks.
