Overheating
Overheating
So the head gasket is done on my car i have already figured it out. I have a new engine for it rather than fix the one i have. Problem is it needs to get a 5 hour drive to where the engine is. Has anyone had any luck with removing the thermostat and or grounding the fans. Just need it to make one last journey.
Re: Overheating
I can drive it around all day in town with no issue, however if i put any sort of effort into the car ie: up hills and down hills she starts to get hot. No real coolant loss other than when it overfills my reservoir and comes out that way. and i have no heat when coolant temp goes up, pretty sure it air locks my heater core as well as the thermostat housing as the fans dont come on until my heat starts to come back

Re: Overheating
- consider getting an engine closer than 5 hours - check scrapyard database car-part.com
- if you have mountains in these 5 hours, well... remember that having the engine in the trunk means 3 people weight counting you
- If you decide to do the trip, remove all air from radiator/engine, carry one or two coolant to refill as needed.
But then, again, it was a small leak.
