02 Honda Civic Overheated and leaked anti-freeze and now won't stay on.
So I'm in a bit of a pickle here and since I'm not a car guy I'm going to turn to you guys for advice. So I have a 02 Civic with about 120k miles on it. Since I got the car, the heat never really worked too well and would take a while to kick on. So while driving the car, I blasted the heat all the way up hoping that the heat would come on a bit faster, shortly after that I noticed the temperature gauge was about 120 and essentially the car started to drive different. I pulled over and turned the car off. Upon turning the car back on, I had every single light indicator lit up on the dash, I was being shown the battery light, the check engine light, and oil light. Eventually, those all went away though. Pop the hood and noticed that a hose has broken and anti-freeze leaked everywhere. Towed the car back to my house and now the issue is that the car won't stay on, I took it down the block and it drove fine but after turning it off, the car wouldn't turn back on. Gave it some time and then it started working again. Once the car is on for longer than five minutes, you hear this really loud shaking sound coming from under the hood.
I know this is super vague but if anybody has any sort of idea/advice on what's going on, I'm all ears!

Sorry to say, your headgasket is (highly likely) done. Since you're not a car guy, you're looking at a $1500 price tag for a shop to do it for you. Even a DIY job runs at least $300-400 depending on how you shop for parts.
Just out of curiosity, which hose was broken?

If you repair the head gasket, consider performing the timing belt service (with water pump, tensioner and acc belts) at the same time.
Decision time to throw $2K into it or throw in the towel if other repairs are needed and body is in bad shape.

vague indeed..
who replaced the the coolant line that was broken, how did they refill the system.
A leaking coolant line will present symptoms just like a blown head gasket, and generally a failed coolant system issue can result in a failed head gasket so you need to really dig down to the root problem.
More than once I have had a leaking water pump result in enough coolant loss that coolant starts to flash steam which then blows the weakest hose or radiator top/bottom.
Indeed this might be a complicated repair, but by the same token, full coverage insurance alone for a new car for a year is likely more than a 2k repair bill
