Wont lock or unlock by remote

Wont lock or unlock by remote
Hello
I have a 2003 Civic coupe. Today car stopped locking or unlocking by remote. When in the car you can lock or unlock the doors by the switch on left door. I tried reprogramming the remotes that seemed to work as I heard the actuators make a noise. When I press lock or unlock on either remote they don't work. Panic button works on both but no lock activity. I have checked fuses under the hood and under the dash and they all appear good.Any suggestions as why remotes wont work? They both worked fine yesterday . Any help on this would be appreciated
checked both door switches for dome light and door open warning and they are fine. When holding left door open and pull the handle it will lock both doors. So actuators seem to be fine. Just wont work from remotes

Both batteries have been replaced. Forgot to mention that was what I tried first. Strangely enough they started working again this morning . Could this be warning sign of receiver unit starting to fail ?
