02 Civic CoupE OBD2 Port Loose

Hey guys,

My 2002 Civic Coupe LX has a loose OBD2 port, I was wondering how I could fix this? Will it be really expensive? I have no wiring experience, and would rather take it to a shop.

The OBD2 port works, but if gently tapped or bumped it will instantly cut all power to the OBD2 scan tool. Attached is a video of my OBD2 port for reference.

It shouldn't be expensive at all. It almost looks like a retaining clip or bolt came loose.

With that said, if the OBD2 reader works without the clip moving, under what circumstances would it be moving?

When I’m driving around or trying to log info, I’ll hit a small bump and lose power in my OBD2 port and corrupt my data. This is why it’s very frustrating. It’s connected like 90% of the time, but during the 10% of the time where it messes up, it ruins everything lol.

It’s not that the OBD2 port being loose just bugs me, when it moves/wiggles it loses all power to the OBD2 port.

Fair enough, then. Is that indicative of another problem your car is having?
