I have a 02 civic manual ex sedan that has a bad speedometer. My car has side airbags but it is impossible to find a cluster from a car with side airbags. Can i change the cluster to one from a car without side airbags or does it have to be from one with side airbags? HELP

Are you sure it's the cluster that's the problem? Usually it's a cable going to the cluster that's corroded or jolted loose.

I'd be pretty surprised if the cluster was the issue.

To answer your question, I'm pretty sure any normal cluster would work, but in order for the side airbags to work, you'd need it from a car that came with them.

Yes i’m pretty sure because i did the calibration/reset procedure when you turn the lights on and hold the trip button and the rpm, coolant temp, and gas all went to calibration mode and not the speed one. I can still check the cables if you have a wiring diagram or something.

Best bet would be to find a service manual. The Haynes one is excellent, and you should have no issues finding one at your autoparts store.

FYI, 7th gens don't use a cable driven speedometer.

At least in North America.

The SRS indicator light in the cluster is just an LED. I would think the system would still work normally without it you just wouldn't know when they system had an issue.
