Question Which gauge cluster for 2001 Civic EX w/side air bags?

My guage cluster is out (I think). The milage display shows "888888" all the way across and sometimes when I turn on the head lights, the entire cluster quits working (guages and lights).

Last night I pulled out the cluster and pulled the two plugs out and then re-installed. It only worked for a few miles then quit again. So I assume I need another cluster.

What years will plug and bolt in with no modifications?

2001-2002 lx/ex clusters for coupe and sedan will work, but watch out for a few things. coupe has orange light, sedan has green. also the ex has abs, so you want a cluster from an ex preferably, and same for side srs since you have that, but getting a cluster without it prolly is fine too. 01-05 dx/vp clusters would work too, but they dont have a tach or abs/side srs lights.

One more question: Does it matter if it's an auto or manual trans?

no, but if you have a manual and you get auto cluster, you will just have a lit up auto strip that does nothing. the backlight will look normal, but you wont have any of the indicator dots next to the gears. so basically its just for looks and will work fine.

Thanks for the info gearbox. I hope to have a "new" cluster installed soon. I'll keep looking for a 2001/2002 EX.
